today i accidentally had to get on my knees and throw my head into the dust – of wiedner hauptstraße because of an unexpected u-turn manoeuvre of a van in front of me. too late for a deliberate braking. fortunately, i did not have any contact with the car but gravitation had its impact on me, anyway: my left joints are marked with grazes and my right hand hurts a bit. but it could have been worse (couldn't it, rainer?). and the van driver was very kind afterwards. he insisted on us going to the police-station, a decision he might have regret later. the session took one and a half hours and although we are both agreed upon the course of events a trial could be pending.

q: what is dictionaraoke? a: popular songs "sung" by the voices of merriam-webster's audio pronounciations.

take a close look: osama bert laden (via elephäntville). update: bert was cut off at tctubantia.nl but nikke lindqvist has the full story and more.

it's a big relief that mcshark is in town: like most of (all?) the austrian (european?) apple resellers they got ten mac os 10.1 cd-roms. probably because of the terror strikes or just because of some quabbalistic number play, who knows really. anyway, the mcshark guy kindly copied their last cd-rom on a blank cd-rw i brought with me. so i was able to install the latest version of apple's super-duper operating system right now.

i'll get down on my knees one day and throw my head into the dust because it is faster, a fact that probably makes it possible to work with it, finally. i also spotted some interesting new settings i haven't read about so far (e.g. the "restart automatically after a power failure" option). however, since the apparently successful installation i am missing internet explorer (in the sense of that it's not available).

and i came back from holidays thinking why shouldn't i simply get rid of my web-shmeb-computer-geeky occupation and do something meaningful...

my advice in case you are really concerned about your health in these days: quit smoking. check your nutrition. overhaul your mental state. take care about your environment. reflect yourself, not your teenage-angsty illusions stirred up by machiavellian hypocrits and fortune tellers.

ps. also before 7 october 2001 wars were waged all over the world that could make one waking up drenched in fear. nothing's gonna change except your reception. ok, ok, better care late than never... just how long will this caring last?

tonight at architekturzentrum vienna: grand opening of café-restaurant una, "a turkish coffee house designed by architects from south-western france". how beautiful.

saturday in graz: "local task 2003" (part 2). claudia and me will be there talking about mushrooms and communities.

for the first time i exceeded the bandwidth limit at designer servers... too many people looking for "funny pictures of osama bin laden"?

at least the informal greeting on the occasion of meeting or leaving a hungarian person was no problem for my furry english: szia they say, and pronounce it like "see ya". but that hardly can reimburse for the disturbing bunch of vowel accents (even on umlauts which obviously cannot be displayed on the web, what a shame again) in words i could not even guess most of the time. bocsánat!

is it true that the hungarian word for "road barrier" literally means "lying policeman"? would be a nice metaphorical language, then.

more about me in budapest at another time. first things first.
