placing banner ads on 404 pages – is this a cool idea that's been around for a while and i missed it or is it not such a cool idea because it is not working at all?

it's redesign time for german speaking online news magazines: recent emperors in new clothes are der standard and die zeit. while der standard at least made some improvements in design (but still is using frames, yuck!), die zeit removed their whole archive (or uses new urls for archived articles now). that's a big, big, BIG mistake. time to get content-managed! claudia already remarked correctly that the new online zeit is a step back in design.

actually, excited by icab running on my old mac, i wanted to write the following: "i am bloggin' this from way down south in the land of maultaschen on a 68k macinstosh performa 475 with icab version 2.1a. it's an incredible piece of software: although still alpha, it runs more stable than internet explorer 4.01 and netscape communicator 4.03 together. it renders html and especially javascript faster (and more compatibly) than any other browser, needs less memory, has some neat features available via context menus (e.g. listing all the links of a document), and is the only recent 68k browser in german. just the right stuff for this machine and my parents who are using it most of the time"... but i was not able to blog with icab. shift happens.
