a new sportive discipline was created on austrian online it-news magazine futurezone: everytime a new message is published by the editors a bunch of youngsters try to post the first comment stating nothing more than the fact of being first. as i think that's quite a good therapy for those poor kids suffering from acquired concentration deficiency and while only some of the bum-tight readers are getting seriously angry i cannot see any harmful effect of this competition.

however, i wonder why public broadcast orf did not create a special contest site for those speedy nerds already long ago (instead of shooting lagopus lagopus)... i am thinking of a page automatically generated at random times where they can proove their skills. a highscore shows the fastest "firsts" and with the generated traffic orf maybe can defend its top position in the ranking of austrian websites. duh!

continuing the bbc comedy series: i love the famous bbc show "absolutely fabulous". jennifer saunders and joanna lumley as edina and patsy, a desastrous couple of apocalyptic fourtysomething singles, just knock me off my feet laughing tears (me, not my feet).

last episode of the show was broadcast already in 1996 so i am probably late jumping on the "abfab" train. however, yesterday i watched a bbc mockumentary featuring mrs saunders in "how to become absolutely fabulous". it revealed some unknown facts to me, e.g. joanna lumley once appearing in "the new avengers" or christopher ryan and adrian edmondson (both of young ones fame) being guest stars in one of the shows. and since yesterday i am fan of the pet shop boys, resp. of their song "absolutely fabulous"...

the only pity is that in german speaking areas all movies are dubbed (yuck!). i envy everyone who can watch and listen to the original.

claudia is torturing the apple text-to-speech program. i wonder if she knows about its spanish tongues... so latin lovers can learn german with ease, too: "ih haysse carlos und ih mohte bitte auh ayne grincahd, damit ih als webdisayner nah doytsland gehen kann".

the judging for the 5k contest still is not done but it's fun to take random looks onto the entries. e.g. the hungry little frog or the jinyang tao. for the faint at heart there is the complete list, too.

let's have some tea.

a wicked vanilla-flavored thang called metababy.

eigenheads is an austrian weblog in english, too.

mayday, mayday... first i was too busy to update hgb in the last days. and yesterday i joint arfco 3000's sw/oc program – although it was not sunday (but a sunny day and a holiday anyway). as far as i remember i never went to the same pub four times a day. the exact route (for residents): breakfast at bluebox – refreshments on gerngross shopping mall terrace (with an excellent view over vienna) – crowds of people back at bluebox – sangria at praterpernod at bluebox – pizza at albino's (what a name! and 138 different kinds of variations! no cheating, huhuh!) – and finally rain in front of bluebox again.

ok, what was i about to write? er, yes: nostalgia! local tv station tiv who supports political potentials big time just became 1 year old! 367 days ago i was pleased to join one of their first shows broadcasted via cable. since then a lot of wonderful people had to suffer from my vast popularity...

can anybody please read this to me? i am old, my sight is weakening...

this is just soooo ridiculous: "This was an unusual year for the Ars Electronica .Net jury. One disappointment in this year's competition was the decline in the number of entries in our category from about 500 to 250. The jury spent some time discussing the reason for the decline and although a number of explanations were put forward, the most likely reason appears to be the vast and unprecedented rise in e-commerce activity on the Internet. Simply put, with vast flows of venture capital available to start Internet enterprises, virtually anyone with any skill or interest in the Net has increasingly been spending his or her waking hours pursuing commercial rather than artistic endeavors."

as the monkey climbs the tree, more and more people can see his arse electronica (never mind the prix pricks).
