Where are the reviews by typographers about e.g. Google’s web fonts? I really wish to get some advice which ones are acceptable from a professional’s aesthetic view...

The long and tragic downfall of Helma, the still amazing grandmother and IMHO best incarnation of all server-side JavaScript application frameworks, has hit another low point: after helma.org was pretty shaky in the last weeks it now has gone completely offline.

Unfortunately, this impacts on my tiny entrepreneurship, too, as clients who I am telling that I am realizing great software with Helma hardly will bother with a product having such a lack of web presence – and probably then, will not bother with me either.

And I bother myself not having mirrored the reference documentation... bummer.

how reliable is java’s localization?

java’s DateFormat.getDateTimeInstance(DateFormat.DEFAULT, DateFormat.DEFAULT, Locale.GERMAN).format(new Date()) produces “22.01.2011 15:24:57” – without a comma or any other visible delimiter netween date and time.

looks awkward to me and i find it hardly legible.

i would write the string “22.01.2011, 15:24:57”, isn’t that at least much better?

(unfortunately, din 5008 does not say much about combining date and time formats... at least nothing i found.)
