bbc open source.

kind of depressing to see the one public broadcast company officially promote their open source projects (well, that in fact is great!) while another has to hide it pretty well from the eyes of a reclusive sovereign.

i can imagine other embosomed software projects that currently hit the same dead-end described by havoc pennington (cool name, dude!). via henso.

and henso's announcement implies a precarious question: what will become of the currently open bugs?

tiny improvements sometimes make big fun: from now on parss feedviewer defaults to a random feed contained in the parss client database.

update: works with antville.org's parss client, too!

good news, boppers: bov promotes a new url of an old buddy of mine: www.salbader.com

actually, there was a time, half a dozen or so years ago, i wanted to do a better website for salbader. just because i loved it so much. besides that arrogant attitude towards the unknown webmaster i never even made a decent proposal. years later, i suddenly found myself in representative salbader company on antville.org, closer than i ever imagined. weird shit, this thang called life.

itunes week, obviously...

if you should experience problems with itunes 4.9, airtunes and some of yourtunes (ie. certain mp3s won't play remotely): that's mainly caused due to incompatible creator/type settings in a file's resource fork.

i managed to solve this issue by downloading marc respass' type changer 1.2.1, opening the desired files and changing type to MPG3 and creator to hook.

uh, and for the not-so-faint at heart having the developer tools on disk there's the option to do it the unix way from within a shell:

/Developer/Tools/SetFile -c hook -t MPG3 AudioFile.mp3

(but please make a backup of your mp3s before you start!)
