An evaluation of the Wire messaging app by a researcher in the Cryptography, Security, and Privacy (CrySP) lab at the University of Waterloo.

The design of the Wire protocol as described in the whitepapers is relatively good. However, there are a few problems with the system and its specification that cause or suggest security weaknesses.

Relevant: Signal still seems to be the better alternative messaging app, top-notch regarding bypassing censorship while being highly secure. One reason is that it’s applying wicked concepts as “blocking-resistant communication through domain fronting”.
