the actual thread about a german weblogger meeting reminded me on last year's attempt to arrange a subversive symposium on our personal views and visions of media, internet, society and technology here in vienna. there were quite a lot of people around and not less energy was set free. however, in the end we failed due to topical heat (we could not agree on substantial questions) and probably a general lack of decisionmaking (the curse of base democracy?).

last sunday i got into an interesting talk with two people that both were related to the symposium's organization panel. it was a positive feedback that recreated my conviction of such an event's value. and that failure is healthy. moreover, there was a conclusion that we would be better off starting on a very basic level, e.g. with a big table (like the ones at nofrontiere) or a jour fixe.
