an important message concerning censorship at the end of the 20th century (by way of marcello conta, mashica madrid):
"at 20:30 p.m. of 12/11/2000 in alfafar (valencia) was inaugurated juan domingo's exhibition.
one multimedia show which is reflecting about the actual state of manipulation we are living in, taking children as stars (victims or actors), on whom the system begins his practice, especially in their phase of socialization. but these children are not little angels, in any way (childhood is not a golden haven). this reflection upon our 'humanity' emphasizes in showing a trash movie stolen fragment on which zoophilic relationships are showed (a black dog in a room pulls along a very white and blond woman, while fucking her).
i could keep on with the details about this caricature of our goodness in our childhood candid age, although i'd better recommend you one trip trough two fragments of domingo's work.
this exhibition has been inaugurated in the above mentioned time in a municipal exhibition room. the edgar neville gallery, in alfafar (valencia).
in the following morning a tendencious local newspaper (scandalous press), specialized in inexistent scoops, and by the support of the political groups that don't belong to the municipal government (which exerts in minority), titles: 'the alfafar major finances an exhibition of babies who kill themselves and are raped by animals'.
the major, by his minority (8 councillors versus 9), is forced to close the exhibition in the aim to avoid a possible vote of censure against the government, veiled threat of the political antagonists. finally, the exhibition couldn't be seen (as it was closed just after its opening), moreover the great part of the mass-media follow the line opened by the first newspaper (the above mentioned title from 'las provincias' 12/12/2000).
as we feel so powerless and overcome by the force of the media, juan domingo (the artist) and me (nilo casares curator of this exhibition) would deeply appreciate an invasion of the municipal e-mail box of alfafar, or its fax number, protesting against the triumphant initiative of these politicians.
maría josé bello consuelo de ves and josé enrique garcía the protest has to be sent to: [e] info@alfafar.com" [f] 963182157 plaza del país valenciano, 1. e-46910- alfafar (valencia). juan domingo & nilo casares thanks in advance. you are kindly requested to forward this message to your address book."
