crave.cnet reviews the MacBook Air: "[...] the lack of an internal optical drive will turn away a lot of people. The fixed battery is a big problem for a lot of people, and still more folks won't accept the limited I/O options. If you care about any of these things, the Air doesn't look like a good value for money. [...] But once they look at the Air, those remaining candidates may be quickly won over. It's so thin! The case is so cleverly curvy that it's actually deceptive."

Good point. The stir caused by the new Apple piece of hardware among those with the blindness of the engineer who cannot believe that someone would pay a much too high price for the lack of the most basic features (or: "just for the design"), and those who are deaf to any reasonable argument and irrationally fall in love with that thin gadget - it's the stir in ourselves whether we can grasp the power of seduction.

People deceive themselves and if one gets to understand this, one knows how a company like Apple works, and further realizes: that's what the human soul looks like.
