fortunately, it was a rather simple attack, leaving many traces in the history file and obviously no self-replicating code anywhere else (still some fingers crossed).

so far, everything is looking fine again, thanks to the help of the colleagues; and i've learnt from this burn.

for what it's worth i (stupid admin) won this first battle against some guy from romania (stupid attacker).
