beginning of the year i lent the "handbuch internet v.5.0" to a girl who was looking for a new job as graphic designer in vienna. i got the book as a gift from my former employer, pixelwings, who are involved in the production of the book.

it still was wrapped in cellophane when i met the girl and i demonstratively unwrapped it to make clear that it's not a sanctuary. casually, i browsed through some of the pages and to my surprise found the following article about weblogs: "keine angst vor links" by patrick dax (published here courtesy by the author).

until that moment i never thought that this book would be of any interest to me. but sometimes my prejudices turn out to be wrong, though. thanks for the link! and the girl got a new job as well.

btw. patrick dax certainly got his personal blog, too. at the moment he has not enough time updating it, he told me. but he hopes to continue blogging, soon. meanwhile, i recommend his "micro drama" orange car crash.

and yesterday, two of the editors of the "handbuch" series, claudia altendorfer and eckart holzinger, occasionally got together just at the same table where i was sitting. we talked about the difficulties of establishing the book in berlin.

while it sells very good in austria, the dot-bombers counting their blessings in berlin did not show very much interest in the project. so the book was sponsored by an austrian company. now those companies that missed getting their advert into the book are going crazy for the authors. the next issue probably will be a best-seller in berlin, too. really weird, those germans.
