there's still a lot under construction or noted as "future project" at mono*crafts (shockwave needed) but they have i-n-c-r-e-d-i-b-l-e visual interfaces everywhere. the news section is gorgeous and their typo space is stunning. manifesting the algorithmic skilled designer or vice versa.
snyggt has more links to such crazy stuff (in swedish).
contrary to my adolescent experiences in the past acne is a swedish design company. apparently they made netbabyworld, a crazy game world adapting the arcade feeling of the eighties.
the acne site shows photos only which i think is a real tough idea. and as i can see almost all the people of acne in everyday situations (not in sterile portrait positions), i feel personally more involved on their site.
i am waiting for tape.at to be released. already some weeks ago i met a woman at a party who is involved in building it. it's an online record label, she explained. something like mdos? i will see.
in the meantime i subscribed to their newsletter and yesterday got the first message: tonight at 21:00 villa log are playing at vienna's "barmodern rhiz" (hey, they support popo.at, too!).
why do i write so much about music in the last days? yesterday, klaus noted that those bombastic "schlager" songs somehow affect him in a strange way. "all i need is the air that i breathe" was his hookline for the rest of the day. i think for me it is "music was my first love and it will be my last". how kitschy.

prolific.org supports popo.at. thank you! logging for europe will become more and more important.

yesterday i learnt three things: 1. some april fool jokes are jokes for insiders only; 2. sometimes it is even not worth the effort to shrug your shoulders; 3. i know who i am, others don't, but some of them should.
kris of netdyslexia likes popo.at and he also likes dave winer to "think about the importance of manila (and its wap support) for political activities against the far right austrian government".
some things to remind myself: since months popo.editthispage.com, the manila part of popo.at, is under the top 20 of both page reads and hit counts in the editthispage.com stats.
there are more than 150 members which makes popo.at second regarding the amount of membership.
however, the site is an outsider, an alien in those lists, that is for sure. among thousands of weblogs written in english, popo.at is held in german. and among thousands of weblogs it does not sell anything, not even an attitude, but wants to inform and support the various resistance movements against far-right politics in austria.
mentioning popo.at (ie. by linking to it) means giving back some of this support. support that is equally essential. i would call that solidarity. sure, this kind of respect is only possible to give when one can see beyond one's own focus and main interest. popo.at is not about design.
under the current circumstances as described above getting no link to popo.at means a lot of irritation to me. truth is, i cannot only shrug my shoulders (i would consider myself as ignorant and arrogant).
and truth is, i expected dave winer linking to popo.at. just to say hi and welcome. kris states literally that a website against racism, fascism or whatever you call ugly politics which uses manila technology is something dave could be proud of.
it is hard to believe an editthispage.com savvy person could ignore popo.at by accident. so i am asking myself what's wrong? what is the bigger picture of all this? and this is a waste of energy. if nobody will ever tell me, popo.at is taken away a fair chance to improve.
that might sound like whining. that's just ok. sometimes i am weak. that's the price of honesty, not of begging for attention. i know who i am.
netdyslexia was the first member of the weblogs community that embraced the stranger and gave a warm welcome to popo.at.
that's why it probably seems rather important for popo.at to be included in their euroblogs directory than to be recognized at editthispage.com. i have to think about that.

i don't believe them a single word.
rrrespect and a very more thank you! goes out once again and forever to netdyslexia. a must read weblog just forget about krokettke.org, here comes dogma2000!
more music: last summer's club hit "sing it back" creators moloko release their next album and single.
"the time is now" (also available as mp3 via napster and its sexy mac version macster) surely is not a bad track but i wonder why they have to follow down the same bloody artsy-fartsy "let's do a song with a symphonic orchestra" path to sound like soul 2 soul on lsd at the end of the eighties (now that reminds me of portishead)... or are moloko the soundgarden edition for clubbers?
actually, moloko was big "fun for me" in the beginning. now they really seem to turn serious. is there some depression going on?
ok, enough of that. music sounds better with him.
critizising architecture since april 1, 1980: 20 years of einstürzende neubauten.
just like kraftwerk the neubauten too often are considered to be too serious by the most of their audience, especially by music theoretists and essayists. the neubauten have a fine (non)sense of humour one can find simply listening to their subversive works. it's not always a tale from their crypt, merely too much desire for understanding by the listener.
i must own up to myself that piefke essaying on music is like piefke speaking viennese (or writing in english)...
