the actual thread about a german weblogger meeting reminded me on last year's attempt to arrange a subversive symposium on our personal views and visions of media, internet, society and technology here in vienna. there were quite a lot of people around and not less energy was set free. however, in the end we failed due to topical heat (we could not agree on substantial questions) and probably a general lack of decisionmaking (the curse of base democracy?).
last sunday i got into an interesting talk with two people that both were related to the symposium's organization panel. it was a positive feedback that recreated my conviction of such an event's value. and that failure is healthy. moreover, there was a conclusion that we would be better off starting on a very basic level, e.g. with a big table (like the ones at nofrontiere) or a jour fixe.
congratulations go out to christian langreiter for being featured at astounding websites! a huge ever growing pulsating brain that rules from the centre of the ultraworld.
whenever i miss the german tv-show "die montagsmaler" (pictionary) in the future, i will go to isketch. but where is sigi harreis?
many of the pictures at dead dreamer remind me of "the big book of dragons" and "the big book of ghosts" i read when i was a child (not so long ago :) these include stories about the various mythological creatures similar to “the big book of gnomes” but the paintings of dragons, fairies and elves differ very much from those of the gnomes. i just cannot find any resource about those books...
deepleap cancels the ticket. metafilter has hardly a backstory, yet... quite an apocalyptic vision to think about the destiny of web apps, generally. "if pyra does go under" someone states, "think of all the bloggers out there who'll be left hanging". this is a real concern: other than the software on my hard disk, web apps are very likely to disappear completely when discontinued. without pyra i cannot use blogger anymore, without mfactory i still can use mtropolis (just as an example).
it’s true, due to the incredible heat, i am bloggin’ bare-naked here is a recent cam shot (heheh, that will give my blog some additional hits). just like that guy in po(!) bronson’s “nudist on the late shift”. fortunately, i won’t get fired because of my shame- and clothless behaviour...

in march, i linked to kristian idol's website. just today i received a message from him. he is the first "stranger" who sent back a thank-you for linking.
right now, kristian is working on a new movie called "question authority". everybody can watch the movie develop and even give their own suggestions for cast and soundtrack. and who knows, maybe it will become a huge box-office hit or a secret favorite at one of the next sundance festivals...
kick the sock: when mark lycette was here in january this year he gave to me a hacky sack (foot bag). it's not easy for beginners (like me) to keep the little sluggish ball in the air. however i like this kind of sportive activity because of its emphasis on cooperation. team works.
