smart tags. sigh. i don't care if such a technology comes from macro-, micro- or nanosoft. the uncontrollable invasion of another entity in content i created is always a big no-no. this starts with bad html renderers resulting in wrong browser display and ends with this new attack on media autonomy throwing us back into the times of centralized and one-way information flow. technologies like smart tags suck no matter from where they come from.
now the question is, will smart tags be successful, anyway? another is: will smart web writers not find neat tricks to override smart tags? i wonder if smart tags technology can detect words encrypted as html entities...
