Documentary filmmaker Errol Morris deconstructs the most famous 26 seconds in film history.
An interesting project in collaboration with MODULE University:
Kick-off for Indigenous Communities, Land Use and Tropical Deforestation (INCLUDE).
The INCLUDE project represents an effort to bring together various aspects of social sciences to tackle the deforestation process that is silently taking place in a remote region of the world: the Argentinean Chaco. Unlike the Amazon rain forest, that has been rightly attracting both scientific and media interests over the last decades, the destruction of the Argentinean Chaco and the dispossession of its indigenous peoples is seldom spoken of in the media.

How did Europe become the richest part of the world?
The modern European economic miracle was the result of contingent institutional outcomes. It was neither designed nor planned. But it happened, and once it began, it generated a self-reinforcing dynamic of economic progress that made knowledge-driven growth both possible and sustainable. (…) If Europe’s intellectuals moved with unprecedented frequency and ease, their ideas travelled even faster.

Yesterday I watched the first episode of “Abstract” featuring Christoph Niemann who already appeared in this link collection two months ago.
In one take he mentions that yellow is his favorite color and I instantly thought of a quote by Uwe Johnson in “a letter from New York”:
Sie müssen die Sache mehr Gelb sehen.
(It must have been published in one of H. M. Enzensberger’s “Kursbuch” journals but I only found some excerpts of the letter in this untitled PDF, somewhere deep down in Carsten Gansel’s website.)
I wonder if Mr Niemann knows about Mr Johnson and his affinity to the color yellow – or, as I learnt in the meantime: his yellow phase… @abstractsunday
