excellent reading via tinytalk: "the american republic is dead. hail the american empire. or else." by john perry barlow.

"the internet, has, as expected, provided a global podium to everyone with an opinion. cyberspace has become an infinite set of street corners, each with its lonely pamphleteer, howling his rage to a multitude all too busy howling their own to listen.

all of our energy goes into things like this barlowspam, energies that might be better spent in creating traditional blocs like the nra, or the aarp, or some large group capable of either buying congress or scaring the shit out of them. this screed won't scare an elected official anywhere. and it wouldn't generate enough money to elect or defeat a dogcatcher.

as much as i loathe organizations, we need to organize."

you know you are a bad blogger when you're the last one to read from an austrian weblog-event. and i feel fine.

something i wanted to state long ago (and probably did): weblogs != community.

now i know where klaus hofegger has spent his time in the last week: at the design austria birthday symposion, collecting fine (typo)graphic urls.

btw. the makers of "ribingu rumu" (shame on us, that's all there currently is) have been invited to join the joseph binder awards on 31 october!

there has been something going on with this project, recently – ie. it was submitted and obviously nominated –, but i don't have any detailed clues about what for and why (i think the design austria website might reflect very well the organiser's communication skills).

so there's more to come, probably soon.

finally, i can read the gaumenspiel menu online – although it's hardly necessary because they anyway have excellent food almost everyday. thank you, sensomatic!

good morning, monday morning!

currently listening to werner pirchner's "halbes doppelalbum" (a very more thank you, tiny).

coincidentally, in november there is a tribute to werner pirchner in vienna.

what a very german day today: kinski, kleist, honecker, lenya (or should i say brecht?) – sozialismus, tennis, stammheim, walhalla.

i love announcements like this one.
